Life Magazine published April 6, 1953 featuring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz on the cover as “TV’s First Family.” This issue was published following the January 19, 1953 episode of I Love Lucy where 44 million viewers watched Lucy Ricardo welcome little Ricky, while in real life Ball delivered her second child, Desi Jr., that same day in Los Angeles. The birth made the cover of the first issue of TV Guide for the week of April 3–9, 1953 and it was in this same week this issue of Life was published.
